The Lines

Hello again. Another interesting shot from one of many wanderings around my house. This is a little basketball court located behind our culdesac. When I moved into this area I found this court and it was missing a net and the fence was down behind the basket so the balls would just fall into the creek. I couldn’t let this place go to waste so I cleaned it up and hooked up a new net and fixed the fence as best I could. I really makes me feel good when I leave the house and hear that great sound of a basket ball on a court.
This was shot later in the day and the sun was throwing these great shadows on the court. I shot a couple different angles of this shot and settle on this one. I think the off kilter angle adds a little more drama to the shot. The little leaf in the foreground seems so lonely to me.
As for what was done in post; I just upped the contrast a bit to make the shot, in the words of Jared Polin, “Pop”. Then I added a little black lvl to make the shadows a lot deeper. I used the Local Adjustment Brush on the little leaf to make it stand out just a little bit more than the rest of the picture.
Well that is it. I hope you all like it. Please feel free to leave a comment below.
Thanks
Peace

I like trees AND shadows so this is very cool to me. The shadows are neat like that stretched across the pavement almost like they're trying to reach out and touch you.
I think shadows are a cool way to show the passage of time too... kinda symbolic of how the court changed for the better over time when you fixed it up. :)
