The Rain
Friday, March 20, 2009 at 7:31PM Ok this is usually the kind of luck I have. I finally get two days off in a row. So I’m thinking, I can do a lot of shooting these two days. But nooo. It has to rain all day everyday. So I got tired of sitting on my butt and decided to just head out to the front porch and see what I can do.
Growing around the porch we have some great little shrubs, bushes and small trees. I saw some beautiful water droplets on the leaves. Thanks mother nature. So I run inside and grab the camera and put on the 100mm macro lens. I also grabbed the 580ex flash and the Honl Snoot as a reflector and put it on a tripod. I placed the flash just to my left and up over my shoulder. Dialed in a little negative exposure compensation into the flash and fired a way. The flash created some really nice little highlights in the droplets. Sometimes you just have to make the most of a bad situation and sometimes great things can happen.
Very little tweaking in Photoshop was needed with this photo. Thanks to Joe McNally and Kelby Training I was able to tweak my settings on the flash and camera to get the exposure perfect in the camera. My luck with using the flash has been pretty much hit or miss in the past but not anymore….well not as much anymore. :-)
Well I hope you all enjoy my little rain shot as much as I do. Please feel free to leave a comment or sign the guest book.
Peace.

Love this photo Eric and your story behind it. The way you positioned your name and copyright on the image - it looks like a magazine cover!
