Right Place Right Time
Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 4:25PM Good day all. Been too long between updates. Sorry. Promise will not happen again. Anyway on to the pictures. This set features the ever lovely Leigha and the lovely Samantha. This was my first time shooting Sam and I have to say it was a great joy. She was willing to put up with my craziness and is a natural in front of the camera Leigha luckily is used to my weirdness. Was a great combination.
Now on the the title of the blog. We were shooting in a small town called Fuquay when a gentleman pulls up in a shiny Mercedes and tells me he has a couple bikes we could use if we wanted. Well of course I wanted too. He leaves and shows up few minutes later with his girlfriend ,who used to be a bike model herself, and these two amazing bikes. Right Place Right Time. Sam and Leigha matching the bikes was a total coincidence. One of those happy ones. Was a dream come true.
I learned that posing on a motorcycle is very uncomfortable and very precarious. Both ladies were just amazing thru this whole shoot. I’m still not sure how we kept the bikes upright during all of this because the bikes didn’t have much of a “lean” to them. Always seemed on the verge of tipping over.
As for the lighting it is from just one 580ex flash remotely triggered with the ST-E2 and a Westcott Micro Apollo Softbox on it to create the great diffused even light. The first shot with Samantha I placed the flash almost directly in front of the camera but about a foot above my head and a little off camera right. This created a nice even light and a nice shadow on the right side of Sam's face and creating the nice spot of light on the wall. The second shot with Leigha I placed the flash off camera right directly inline with the bike. This threw a nice amount of light onto Leigha’s face but still keeping the nice shadows in the bike and splashing a nice amount of light on the wall.
Well all I hope you’ve enjoyed the pictures and maybe learned a little something. Just a little. This series of shots will be continued in the next post…..
Peace
